Search tools
How do I use the search tools?
Answer:
- Our search devices work like most on-line search tools. Input what you are looking for and press the go button.
- There are four methods of searching - Quick Ph.Art Search, Advanced Ph.Art Search, Ph.Artist Search and Site Search.
Quick Search - Type your keyword and press go.
Advanced Search - From the search drop down menu choose Advance Ph.Art. It will be taken to a more comprehensive search form. Here you can be more specific with your search parameters. For you can choose the image orientation, image colour, location and emotion to help with your search.
Ph.Artist Search - From the search drop down menu choose Ph.Artist Search. It will allow you to search by a fellow member’s name. You must at least add the member’s part or full name to activate this option. You may also choose by a number of other criterion.
Site Search - Site search is a general search for any textual information found on the site.
From the search drop down menu choose Site Search Search. Then enter in keyword(s) or a subject relating to the information you are seeking and click GO.
How do I ‘read’ the search results?
Answer:
The results pane is made up of three main components.
- The filter bar sits at the top of your results view. It allows you to further refine your search by more specific criteria. It can also perform an entirely new search. Simply resubmit your criteria here and click update.
- Just below the filter bar is the results navigation bar. Here you can navigate through your results by clicking previous or next or view as slideshow. You can also determine how many results you can view by page.
- Finally you will see the search result thumbnails. This will display thumbnail size previews of your search. Upon hovering over these you will discover more options. A preview panel will display with a variety of options depending on whether you are a member of a Ph.Art Gallery visitor. Membership options include the ability to view and rate the image, comment on the image, and add the image to your ph.avourites.
What if I just want to browse the Galleries?
Answer:
- Go to the browse tab and do just that. You’ll find the door, that is the link, on the home page or as a drop down item under the Explore tab.
- Browse according to the genre you are interested in. Under each genre are sub genres, you’ll never get bored here.
