In the world of stock photography, there are two ways your images can be licensed – Rights Managed (RM) or Royalty Free (RF). In all cases, you retain copyright to the images.
Option One - Rights Managed (RM)
If your image has been chosen for RM Images they are marketed as unique and individual, and so must be exclusive to this site and the alliance. Images are of the best quality and pricing is based on how the image will be used.
(More Specifically: Rights Managed, or RM, in photography and the stockphoto industry, refers to a copyright license which, when purchased by a user, allows the one time use of the photo for the purpose specified by the license. If the user wants to use the photo for other purposes an additional license needs to be purchased. RM licences can be given on a non-exclusive or exclusive basis.)
Option Two -Royalty Free(RF)
Images chosen as RF are not exclusive and are purchased on an unlimited use basis. Therefore they do not need to be exclusive to this site and can be sold multiple times. Prices are based on file size as required by the client.
(More Specifically: Royalty-Free, or RF, in photography and the stock photo industry, refers to a copyright license where the user has the right to use the photo without restrictions. The user can therefore use the image in several projects without having to purchase an additional license. RF licenses arenot be given on an exclusive basis.)
