Theme & Conditions of Entry
The theme of this competition is the Photographer's interpretation of SOLITUDE.
Images can be of any subject matter, place or time and should best represent the photographer’s view of the concept of Solitude. Adult and Nude content will not be accepted in this instance. Instructions on how to enter form part of these Conditions of Entry. Participation in this Competition is deemed acceptance of these Conditions of Entry.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to all photographers aged 14 and over, except employees of DCW (or related bodies corporate), and members of their immediate families and agencies associated with this Competition. The images submitted can be from any location and taken at any time but the entrant MUST BE AN Australian Resident and have full ownership and copyright over the submitted images. Prizes will only be delivered within Australia.
Dates of Competition
(a) The Competition commences at 8am AEST on Monday 10 May 2010 and finishes at 12am AEST on Friday 11th June 2010. All entries must be uploaded to the Promoter’s website at www.photoartgallery.com/competition/dcw by 12am AEST on Friday 11 June 2010.
(b) Entries may not be acknowledged or returned. Participants have the obligation to ensure entries are received on time. DCW can choose to keep or remove images from the Gallery on completion of the competition should they wish to do so. Entrants can request removal of their images via the promoter.
Judging
The Competition will be judged by a panel of judges nominated by DCW. Judging will take place at DCW offices between closure and the winners announcement on Tuesday 29 June 2010. This competition is one of skill; chance plays no part in determining the winner. Each entry will be individually judged based on originality and creative merit. The judges’ decision in relation to all aspects of this Competition is final and binding on all who enter and no correspondence will be entered into.
Number of Entries & Type of File
Participants may only enter 5 images each representing the theme and concept of SOLITUDE as determined by the Photographer. Images minimum file size requirement applies of 1024 x 768 Hi Res JPEG files.
Incomplete, Illegible or Incomprehensible Entries
Any entries, which at the sole discretion of the Promoter are deemed incomplete, illegible or incomprehensible will be invalid and will not be included in the judging. Participants will be advised when their images are accepted or rejected from the event via email.
Verification and Disqualification
The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and participants (including a participant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any participant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Conditions of Entry or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
Entry Method
To enter, participants must:
(a) Take an appropriate digital photograph(s) and upload those photo(s) to the portal
(b) Accept the terms and conditions of this competition
Prize Winners and Prizes
(a) The best entry as determined by the judges as representing the concept and theme of SOLITUDE in the final judging will be deemed the prize winner. The judge’s decision will be final.
(b) There are 4 official prizes to be awarded for the following:
1st Prize: An Australian Photo Tour Valued at $2,145.00 from www.australianphototours.com.au (NOTE - All travel expenses incurred to get to Melbourne are at the winner’s expense)
Great Ocean Road Photographic Tour - Day 1 departing Federation Square Melbourne 7.00am. Returning day 3 CBD Melbourne 5.30pm. Pick up and drop offs can be arranged, if en route.
Accommodation: 2 nights self-contained shared luxury apartments. One room is allocated per single or couple. Meals: The best local cuisine has been sourced and all fine dinning main meals are supplied- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Healthy nutritional snacks and water will also be provided. NO alcohol is included but is available for purchase.

3rd Prize : DCW gift voucher valued at $250.00
Public Choice: DCW gift voucher valued at $500.00
(c) Prizes are non-transferable and non-redeemable for cash.
(d) DCW, reserves the rights to award one-off awards and prizes to members whose works are deemed to be notable mentions for outstanding work and contribution from time to time.
(e) Prizes valued in Australian dollars. Prize values mentioned are the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and are correct at time of printing.
Contacting Winners
(a) The winner(s) will be contacted by email, using the contact details provided in their entry and membership profile. Details of winner(s) may also be published openly through the DCW email, member eNews and the website.
(b) Winners will not unreasonably decline the opportunity for additional publicity or promotion of their work as the winning entries.
(c) The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected mail.
Warranty
By entering the Competition, each participant warrants to the Promoter that the entry (including but not limited to the photograph provided) and any other work subsequently submitted is an original artistic work of the participant, has not been wholly or partially copied from any other design or artistic work, and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. The participant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against all claims and costs by third parties arising from a breach of the warranty set out in this condition. Talent release forms must be available on request for any photos containing persons.
Ownership of Entries
The copyright of all images remains that of the photographer at all times but may be reproduced by the promoter for the express purpose of PR and publicity of the results of the competition and for promotional purposes. The promoter will endeavour to credit the artist at all times if their image is used and will seek permission for said promotional use whenever possible. Separate negotiations shall be entered into should the Promoter or its agents which to use any images for commercial purposes.
Personal Information
The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this competition is governed by the Privacy Laws of New South Wales and Australia. Your personal information or details shall not be provided to any third parties without your prior consent but you do authorise the Promoter to be able to contact you with information pertaining to the competition or related promotions. Any request to be removed, access, update or correct any information that you provide should be directed to the Promoter.
Permits
This competition and none of its categories represent games of chance and therefore no permit is required.
