Australia Day Comp
Modified By nicolasphotos on 11/06/2010 2:02:38 PM)
Australia Day is only a week away so we thought we better start letting you guys know about our Oz day forum competition. It's simple, just make sure you have your camera with you whatever you are doing this Tuesday 26th Jan 2010.
Then add your 5 best shots into this Australia Day forum thread on or after the big day. Have a think about what you want to convey and capture. What does this day mean to you? Want to know what you're playin' for?

The top 30 entries will all be published in a cool coffee table style photo-book that will be available for purchase by the public! (that also means you guys, us guys.. and er.. them guys)
The winner gets a clear mention in the book (as will the placegetters) and promotion to their gallery profile + a $150 Photo Art Centre voucher of their choice + a Moet Chandon Chocolate gift box. Struth...sounds grouse ay! (with more Aussie colloquealisms to come)

Entry limit - 5 images
Entries close - 1st Feb 8.00 AM

Can't wait to see what people come up with! Here's hoping our photos aren't too blurry after a few Australia Day drinks ;)

Think I might post some of the shots from last year's Oz Icon competition just to get everyone's creative (and patriotic) juices flowing. Stay tuned!

Love this idea, love the coffee table book idea too.

Hmm might have to get my photos done very early in the day, before they become blurry and unstable.....or is that me?

I loved all the shots the Essence comp brought in last year and I'm dying to see more pics that remind me of our gorgeous Country.

My dog has a little Aussie bandana ready to wear! She's so trendy!

Here was the winning shot from tmphoto for the Essence of Australia comp.

Such a beautiful example of emotion and communication. So many spects of this related. The ocean and surfers. An aboriginal boy with an environmental cause written on his back in zinc cream. A flag, community, freedom of choice and voice.. the list goes on.
Then there's the execution. Phew awesome.
Food for thought this Oz day photogs!

AS soon as I read about this comp my mind was flooded with ideas. But sometimes I think the best shot are the unplanned ones, and that is what I am going to try and do.

Re: Australia Day Comp
So much to be expected from Australia Day! Music, Love, Laughs, Family and an all round great day to capture something that you may not, on any other normal given day.
Can't wait to see all the photos! I'm still not sure where I will be for Australia Day, but I'm hoping to leave with something I'd love to share with you all! :)
Good Luck! xxx

Entries for comp.(Edited bit:- My apologies for original post. Very short and not so sweet :-)
anyway, I'm originally from the UK, but am now resident in Australia, and a big difference to being here and the UK is in Oz you're allowed to be patriotic!! And thats what the national flag has always been a symbol of. Also, I read a lot of Australian war history, in particular about the Light Horse and ANZAC's. So the flag and the Light Horse on parade does it all for me... )

Hi, I am only new to the forum so I hope that I have posted this right :) It is my entry for the Australia Day Competition. I have reduced the sizing because when I pressed preview it looked huge! If the full size is required I can post again.

I hope you are all having a terrific Australia Day!

Love this shot !!! and Great to see some shots coming in and I am sure there will be more over coming days.

For the record I think we should close this comp off on Sunday afternoon just to give everyone time to upload their great Aussie Day shots over the coming week.

So you have until next SUNDAY at 12pm Midnight to enter your images. .

hope you have had an amazing day and captured some of the better scenes that made your day proud to be an Australian no matter where you are.
