Famed Queenslander artist Tracey Moffat often uses her work to 'lash out' artistically at the subject that provoke her. In her latest project 'The Plantation' she manages this with an eloquently provocative approach by hinting at the cultural attitudes towards the slave trade.

The actual reality of the images is unclear, but that is part of the purpose of the work. Instead the pictures leave you with a vision of sunlight and a feeling of hovering tension in this anonymous setting.
The project almost didn't happen as the images were shot by Moffat 13 years ago and were only recently discovered by her abandonded in a store room.

When Moffat made the finding she decided that the images would have much more of a conceptual direction if printed using various techniques, including touching up with watercolours, to give them a more archival, historical feel. Adding power to their simple message.
