Landscape photographer Ken Duncan is organising a Sydney rally for concerned individuals to protest the rules and regulations imposed on photographers in Australia. Arts Freedom Australia has examined the policies regarding photography in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States, concluding that "the rights of Australian photographers and film-makers are being seriously affected by a myriad of rules and regulations that impose prohibitive restrictions, high fees, and bureaucratic application protocols,” Mr Duncan said. He refers to the restrictions imposed on photographers at Uluru, the photographic licences required in New South Wales', Queensland's and Victoria's national parks, etc as "attacks on freedom of expression."
Mr. Duncan is asking photographers to protest against the restrictions imposed on photography and film-making in public areas. Arts Freedom Australia will be holding a rally on Sydney Harbour on Sunday, August 29 from 10am to midday.
