The Prix Pictet is a photography prize that awards a £65,000 (CHF 100,000) to a photographer for his or her use of the medium to tackle social and environmental issues. This year's theme was "growth"

This year's shortlisted photographers are Christian Als, Edward Burtynsky, Stéphane Couturier, Mitch Epstein, Chris Jordan, Yeondoo Jung, Vera Lutter, Nyaba Leon Ouedraogo, Taryn Simon, Thomas Struth, Guy Tillim and Michael Wolf. The Prix Pictet jury charged with chosing these photographers was made up of experts from the worlds of art and environmental activism, and had to select the finalists from more than 450 entrants.
However, only one photographer will receive the Prix Pictet 2010 at a high-profile ceremony on 17 March 2011 attended by former UN Secretary Kofi Annan.
