After 8 days of bush camping, surfing, sleeping and eating I have returned to the fold! My wife, daughter, dog and I looked a bit like the Carusoes and loved every minute of it.
We camped on the backbeaches near Crescent Head on the mid north coast of NSW. A place that still allows dogs and open fires. Ah yes one of the last bastions of old school camping at it's finest. A few good friends and a bonfire on the beach saw in the new year. Here is my little new year photo taken at dusk with my 5D. A five second exposure at f/4 gave me the result I wanted but the H and A in happy were a little overzealous with their sparklers!
It reminded me that one of the key things when directing a shot with numerous people is to reiterate a hundred times exactly what it is they are supposed to do. I kept telling them, "keep the sparkler just below your chin and just above your waist so I can see everyone". mmmmm well close enough and a great memory for those involved.
Happy new year to all!
Cheers,
Paul
