The winners of the 2010 British Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards have been announced and once again the competition has produced some amazing images.

The overall winning image this year brings high drama to an often over looked creature - Steve Young's 'Herring Gull in Wave', as judge Greg Armfield from the WWF describes "is a unique and striking image. One that captures perfectly the power, chaos and intensity of the ocean as it surrounds the majestic gull".

The awards are only in their second year, but are already beginning to build some important industry acclaim, and we look forward to the results of their third year!
