Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky is known for being able to capture the scope and grandeur of a landscape in his images - this combined with the large scale prints that he uses to display his work, makes for a breathtaking sight. So when news of the Gulf Oil Spill hit, it only seemed natural for Burtynsky to make the trip down to shoot it.

His latest project does just this - through a series of epic aerial images shot from helicopters, Burtynsky manages to make the spill look eerily beautiful and in some way helps the viewer realise just how massivly destructive the disaster has been.
